ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has imposed ban on new appointments in government hospitals at Islamabad.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has remarked only two months of the sitting government are left. When new government comes it will see the matters of new appointments. Those who get jobs their families will become your voters. We will not allow any one to make people voters through appointments.
He further remarked “quorum is not completed in parliament. Official works are not completed. Then they say that court interferes.
The CJP gave these remarks while presiding over a 3-member bench of SC during the course of hearing of case pertaining to facilities in hospitals at federal capital here Monday.
The CJP remarked oxygen cylinder costing Rs 5000 was purchased at the cost of Rs 22000. Rs 30 million have been received back. The other matters will be settled in inquiry.
The court inquired from law officer during the hearing of the case have permanent heads been appointed in the federal hospitals.
Additional Attorney General (AAG) said no proper candidate is available for induction as head of NIRM. But soon appointment will be made.
CJP remarked “ people want to contest election by getting appointed people by this government. The families of those who get jobs will become voters.
CJP inquired who is being appointed as head of PIMS. The biggest hospital of Islamabad stands deprived of its head. They go for making arrangements in respect of public meeting. Quorum is not completed in parliament. Work is not done without the interference of the court and then they say court interferes. Adhoc appointment of the head be abolished within two months and a regular head be appointed.
The court allowed Dr Fazal Maula to continue his work.
The court ordered that government should appoint regular head of NIRM within 6 months.
The CJP while addressing state minister for CADD Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry during the hearing of the course remarked “ are you medical doctor or doctor of other kind.
Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said he was medical doctor. Summary for appointment of PIMS head has been sent to Prime Minister. Soon appointment will be made.
CJP remarked “we want a clean head of PIMS. Appointment should not be made on the basis of nepotism. Tell us what will be quota of appointment. We will not allow voters to be made through appointments.
Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry requested we should not be stopped from making appointments as it would create difficulties for people.
The court maintained no new appointments be made in PIMS and Polyclinic.
CJP remarked “ the advertisement for appointment be withdrawn. We will see appointments can be made or otherwise.
Additional Attorney General said summary for appointment of regular head of PIMS has not reached Prime Minister house. The summary will reach prime minister house from Establishment division today.
The court while summoning secretary to Prime Minister and secretary CADD adjourned the hearing of the case till March 26.
