Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, thousands of people on Monday participated in the funeral prayers of two youth, Rayees Kachroo and Farooq Ahmad Hurra, martyred by Indian forces during a siege and search operation in Pulwama, yesterday.
The funeral prayers of Rayees Kachroo were offered four times at his ancestral Belov village to accommodate thousands of people who had turned up from different villages of twin districts of Shopian and Pulwama. The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Gilani telephonically addressed the mourners.
Meanwhile, massive protest demonstrations erupted in Belov and Nazneenpora – ancestral villages of Farooq Ahmad Hurra – after the two martyrs were laid to rest. They were buried amidst pro-freedom slogans at their native villages. Over two dozen people were injured during the protests. A health official said that eight persons were treated for injuries at the District Hospital Pulwama, and critically injured were shifted to Srinagar hospitals.
