This is first time in history of Africa that the guarantors are more interested in peace agreements than the stakeholders. This was happened when President of the Republic of Sudan Field Marshal, Omer Al-Basher and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has affirmed their country’s supports to stable peace in South Sudan. Khartoum organized a summit for that stability of peace in South Sudan in last week of June this year. Addressing the summit President of Republic Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, stated that Sudan is ready to provide all facilities and to put all its experiences for achieving peace in South Sudan. President Al-Bashir also emphasized on the role being played by Sudan in coordination with the Inter- Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and its efficient mechanisms for achieving peace at several states at the region, hoping that Sudan will represent an added-value to the efforts of IGAD and Africa. He said that the goal of a united homeland and the common challenges transcend the differences. The Ugandan President Museveni also declared in his address that his country support to negotiation efforts and disclosing that war will not be achieving gains by any party. President Museveni expressed hope for reaching peace in South Sudan soon. The Ugandan Head of State has outlined the meeting points which was held between President Al-Basher, President Silva Kiir and Riek Mashar, he said that implementation of these points will enable the people of South Sudan to enjoy peace because. No doubt this was a big achievement of Republic of Sudan that the South Sudanese leading politician, Dr. Riek Machar participated personally in the negotiations between the government of South Sudan and southern factions. After the speeches of guarantors the President of South Sudan Salva Kiir said in his address that he came for the current session of negotiations with an open mind for achieving peace in South Sudan and cessation of the unjustifiable war. In his address he hoped that the other party has come also with an open heart to exit the south to safety away from internal differences and to enable the people of South Sudan to enjoy peace, stability and prosperity. He praised the efforts being exerted by the President of the Republic of Sudan and his concern with realization of peace in South Sudan. He also appreciated the efforts exerted by the heads of state of the IGAD member states for restoration of peace in South Sudan, indicating that Sudan and South Sudan have common interest in security and economy. He said that there are a number of points that have been agreed upon, while there are some points that can be overcome through negotiation and the efforts of the joint committees. Meanwhile, the tripartite summit between the three presidents has acknowledged the importance of security and stability in South Sudan State to enable its resources for realizing development and prosperity. Before opening the forum, the Sudanese Foreign Minister, Al-Dirdiri Mohamed Ahmed has confirmed in his policy statement that participation of Dr. Machar is considered an important step for boosting the peace process in South Sudan. He pointed out that the negotiations were covers all the factions in South Sudan. He said that the negotiations came in implementation of outcome of the recent extraordinary summit held in Addis Ababa. Al-Dirdiri recalled that the IGAD summit which was held in Addis Ababa on June 21, 2018. It was decided in the submit that the disputing parties in South Sudan must be on one table in a session of negotiations in Khartoum under auspices of the President of the Republic. So Presidents of Sudan, Uganda and South Sudan held a tripartite Summit in the Sudan. The opening sitting was held in presence of President of Sudan Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni and President of South Sudan Salva Kiir, South Sudanese groups and IGAD representatives.
