ISLAMABAD: (Parliament Times) The Senate resumed its session in Islamabad on Wednesday with Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani in the chair.
In his ruling, Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani said that the resignation tendered by the PML-N leader Nehal Hashmi on 31st May stands withdrawn.
The Chairman said that Nehal Hashmi had requested to withdraw the resignation in a meeting with him in the chamber.
He asked the Secretary Senate to convey the ruling to the Leader of the House and Parliamentary Leader of PML-N.
Chairman Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting Kamil Ali Agha presented before the House report of the Committee on “The Right to Access to Information Bill, 2017”.
The House today held discussion on the disappearance of Col. (Retd) Habib in Nepal.
Leader of the Opposition Aitzaz Ahsan regretted the silence of the government on the matter.
Other members said that the Indian intelligence agency RAW is behind the abduction of the retired colonel. They said the government should take serious steps for the recovery of Colonel Habib.
They said that Colonel Habib was not a spy but was in search of a job.
They said the government should take this matter to the United Nations and the ICJ as the Indian side has committed a crime by abducting an innocent person.
Winding up discussion on the motion, Minister for States and Frontier Regions Abdul Qadir Baloch said that the government has taken up the matter with the Indian and Nepalese governments to trace out the retired Colonel.
He said the government is not oblivious to its responsibilities and will make all out efforts in the case of Colonel Habib.
He said we are sure like anybody else that the Indian agency RAW is behind the kidnapping of Colonel Habib.
The House today continued discussion on the budgetary proposals for the next fiscal year.
Participating in the debate, Rubina Irfan said the budget does not live up to the aspirations and expectations of the common man.
She said it envisages incentives for the elite class but nothing for the poor people.
She said steps should be taken towards provision of basic amenities of life including clean drinking water to the people.
