ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has taken suo motu notice of Faizabad interchange sit in and issued notices to defence secretary, interior secretary, Attorney General (AG) and advocate generals of Punjab and Islamabad.
Justice Qazi Faez Isa took the notice of the protracted protest while hearing a case.
During the hearing of a case Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Sohail Mehmood told the court that he leaves his home for court early in the morning at 6 a.m instead of 8 a.m due to religious parties sit in.
The counsel Ibrahim Satti told the court that he could not prepare the case due to sit-in.
The court while taking notice of Faizabad Interchange sit in sought detailed report from defence secretary and interior secretary. Notice was also issued to IG Islamabad, IG Punjab and attorney general.
The court remarked “ tell us what steps have been taken for safeguarding basic rights of people.
During the hearing of the case Justice Qazi Faez Isa remarked “ which Shariah allows the obstruction of routes of the people and the language being used in sit in. Articles 14,15 and 19 are being breached due to sit in.
The court while giving time to administration till Thursday remarked that it should be informed till November 23 what steps have been taken for ending sit in and for the protection of rights of people.
The court also summoned deputy attorney general during the course of hearing of the case. .
DAG told the court he himself leaves his home at 6 a.m instead of 8 a.m daily so that he could reach the court in time. Islam can be spread through high moral character rather than through force.
On the other hand all the meetings between religious parties and government for ending dharna remained unproductive. No party is ready to budge from its stance. Religious parties sit in has entered into 16th day. People are facing hardships in their movement from Rawalpindi to Islamabad and back.
