Pakistan limited-overs captain Sarfraz Ahmed has hinted at the possibility of a Test cap for young legspinner Shadab Khan, whose sensational T20 debut against West Indies took the cricketing world by storm.
In his post-match interview following Pakistan’s 3-1 T20 series win against the Windies, Sarfraz lauded the 18-year-old spinner’s magic with the ball and said there was no reason why he wouldn’t be considered for a Test spot if he continues to bowl as brilliantly as he has done so far.
“Shadab has bowled very well so far and yes, he can play all matches for Pakistan,†the skipper said when asked if the leggie could make it to the Tests.
Sarfraz praised his side’s bowling efforts against the Windies, making a special mention for Hasan Ali who bagged two wickets and bowled two back-to-back maiden overs in the final T20 on Sunday night, earning the Man-of-the-Match award.
The captain also hailed his team’s fielding display during the series and expressed hope the Green Shirts can continue the momentum for the upcoming ODI series.
Pakistan play West Indies in the three-match ODI series starting in Guyana on April 7.
