Islamabad: (Parliament Times) Voicing his deep concern over the recent killing spree in Kashmir the former convener of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (Pak Chapter) and vice president of Democratic Freedom Party Mehmood Ahmed Saghar on Monday urged the international community particularly the united nations to resolve lingering Kashmir dispute, which he said was the main cause of rights violations and tension in the region.
“The people specially the youth of Kashmir are being killed day in and day out by unbridled trigger-happy Indian forces but it is quite unfortunate that the world community is watching this macabre game of bloodbath in Kashmir like that of a bystander”, the DFP leader said adding that it was high time that the global community must shun its policy of indifference towards the miseries of Kashmir and come forward in a big way to help resolve this long outstanding issue that has taken a heavy toll on the people of the state in terms of death and destruction. Referring to the devastating impact of the conflict on the society Saghar said that the deadly conflict on one hand had consumed three consecutive generations of Kashmir while on the other the state sponsored terrorism has torn apart the social fabric besides inflicting massive economic, academic and other losses to Kashmiri people.
While denouncing use of brute force and cold-blooded murder of 17 Kashmiris by Indian troops Saghar said that the massacre of youth in South Kashmir must serve as eye-opener to the world community. “It is time that the international community must wakeup and see how a country that portrays itself as the largest democracy of the contemporary world is killing, maiming and blinding Kashmiris for demanding their birthright”, he said adding that Kashmiris were fighting for a just and legitimate cause that has been guaranteed to them by no less and authority than united nations, which, he said, was ratified by both the countries (India and Pakistan). Lauding the sacrifices of Kashmiri youth the DFP leader said that the brave sons of the soil have been rewriting the history of resistance in Kashmir by their blood and this red hot blood being spilt on the streets won’t go in vain. He said that the day was not far when people of Kashmir will achieve their long cherished goal.
