Islamabad: Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf on Monday wrote a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu of the problems confronting by the Pakistani community in Saudi Arabia.
PTI central Deputy Secretary General Murad Saeed, in the letter, said currently hundreds and thousands of Pakistanis are working in different cities of Saudi Arab, adding that many of them have been confronting serious problems regarding their Iqamas.
The PIT leader further informed the court that lack of interest on the part of the government adding their problems. The PTI raised the issue on various forums in the past four years but it remained failed to push the government to take up the issue with the Saudi government, Saeed informed the court through his letter.
The foreign office even doesn’t have the complete record of the Pakistanis working in Saudi Arabia. Initially the government was claiming that the Pakistani community living in Saudi Arabia has no such issue, but later it accepted that more than 1,000 Pakistanis languishing in different Sadi jails. Most of them have Iqama-related issues.
Free movement has become a big challenge for the of the laborer community there, the letter stated.
While referring Indian laborers, Saeed said, the Indian government has finalized a Laborer Protection Agreement with the Saudi Arabia government to protect its citizens. But unfortunately, the government of Pakistan didn’t take the issue seriously.
The PTI leader, in the letter, requested the apex court to take suo motu of the problems facing by the Pakistani community in Saudi Arabia and issue directives to the departments concerned to submit a detailed on the issue.
