Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) Appreciating the UN secretary general Antonio Guterres’s efforts to de-escalate tension in South Asian region the president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Ahmed Khan and Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan on Thursday demanded the highest body to play its much needed role to stop state-sponsored terror in Indian held territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Both the leaders made these assertions during a meeting at President Secretariat Muzaffarabad. Besides holding detailed deliberations on recently presented budget and other development projects, the duo also discussed at length the prevailing political and human rights station in occupied Kashmir.
Expressing serious concern over the worsening human rights situation in occupied Kashmir they said that during the holy month of Ramazan Indian occupation forces have intensified the terror campaign of killing Kashmiri youth in fake encounters. They said that the occupation forces have made the lives of Kashmiris miserable by unleashing rein of terror in the region. They said that arresting and filing of sedition charges against Kashmiri youth for celebrating Pakistan’s victory against India in the Champions Trophy was a sign of Indian Authorities’ despotic and un-democratic attitude. Denouncing Indian state terrorism both the leaders appealed the UN Secretary General to influence upon India to stop rights abuses and bloodshed of innocent civilians in Kashmir.
Expressing gratitude to the UN Secretary General for his efforts to de-escalate tension in the region they said besides working for the restoration of dialogue process between the two countries the highest body should redouble its efforts to stop rights violations in held Kashmir. Terming UN secretary general as the man of international standing they expressed the hope that Guitteres will play key role in the implementation of the UN resolutions on Kashmir.
The president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Ahmed Khan and Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan reiterated their resolve that welfare of the common masses, establishment of good governance in AJK and lending all out support to freedom movement of Kashmir were the top most priorities of the incumbent regime.
So far as establishing of good governance, enforcement of merit, progress and prosperity of the region is concerned they said that the government will leave no stone unturned to achieve these lofty goals. “In this regard all the political parties of the region will be taken on boardâ€, they said adding that there will be no discrimination whatsoever. “Besides providing jobs merit will be enforced in every sector of lifeâ€, they said. The president and PM vowed to rid the society of the menace of cast-system, regionalism and nepotism.
Expressing satisfaction over the budget statistics they said, “The senior bureaucrats who played vital role in the budget preparation will play effective role in the transparent utilization of development fundsâ€.
