Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) While announcing that 5th July would be observed as “black day†throughout Azad Kashmir the president of Pakistan Peoples Party (Kashmir Chapter) Chudhary Latif Akbar has urged the workers and office bearers of the party to hold press conferences at all district headquarters of the state on the day to mark their protest against “autocratic move” that led to the ousting of a democratically elected government way back in 1977.
According to press release issued here on Tuesday the PPP president said that on 5th July offices across the State [AJK] will hoist black-flags whereas party workers would tie black ribbons around their arms to record their protest against the “autocratic moveâ€.
The statement said, “The founding chairman of PPP Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto refused to bow before the military dictator as a result his government was overthrown on July 5, 1977 and latter he was hanged to death and in this way the people of the country were deprived of democratic leadership by the dint of a bulletâ€.
Reiterating his pledge to carry forward the mission of Shaheed ZAB and Muhtarma Benzair Bhutto, Akbar said that PPP would continue to raise its voice against undemocratic and dictatorial forces no matter what.
