Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has castigated police for creating chaos in the territory saying police are humiliating and arresting Hurriyat leaders on one or the other pretext and this lawlessness is being carried out under the garb of preventive custody.
The APHC in a statement issued said, “Jammu and Kashmir has been turned into a police state and detention period of those arrested is prolonged on flimsy grounds, for these lawlessness police authorities don’t follow any judicial procedure or standard norms.”
The APHC while referring to the detention of Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Ghulam Mohammad Gulzar and Mohammad Ashraf Laya said, “All these leaders were taken into custody, a few days back on the day when Mughees Mir was martyred.”
The statement said, “Its 85-year-old leader, Shah Wali Mohammad, was also arrested for leading a funeral, and till now he is in unlawful police custody.”
The APHC said it wants to make it clear that all these suppressive tactics and coercive measures won’t break their resolve, nor can deter them from pursuing their mission.
Meanwhile, Syed Ali Gilani has expressed grief over the demise of Abdul Sattar Khan, the brother of incarcerated political activist Mohammad Shaban Khan. He deplored that since last two years he had been languishing in outside jail and authorities despite quashing his detention orders were repeatedly slapping draconian PSA on him.
