ISLAMABAD: CDA has worked out new PC-1 for making Islamabad Highway 8-lane signal free and sent it to planning commission for approval.
According to media reports, this highway is four lanes at present and it needs major renovation work being dilapidated.
Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has approved grant amounting to Rs 10 billion for construction of Islamabad Highway on the request of CDA. This grant will be provided through PSDP therefore, new PC-1 has been evolved.
In the face of financial crisis, CDA had requested PM for funding this project from Koral to T-chowk being an inter-provincial highway.
The cost of new PC-1 is estimated at Rs10.75 billion. The PC-1 has been filed with Planning commission after it was approved by secretary CADD. It will now be presented in the meeting of Central Development Working Party.
Islamabad Highway will be constructed in two phases.
