Islamabad: Expressing serious concerns over Hajj operation 2017, National Assembly standing committee on Religious Affairs has asked to present all details during the next meeting.
Chaired by Syed Ameer Ali Shah, the meeting was held here Monday at Parliament House and attended by State Minister for Religious Affairs, Pir Ameen ul Hasnat, Secretary Religious Affairs and others. The NA body directed to conduct audit of Hajj operation, details of quota given during last three years and delay in PIA Hajj operation.
It further directed to present details of revenue generated and spent on Temple and Gurudowara during the last three years. On this occasion, member of the committee Ramesh Lal expressed grave concern over money spent by Evacuee Trust Board on Temple and Gurudowara. He added when there was the festive of minorities, renovation work was started at Temples and Gurudowaras. He complained that condition of Temples and Gurudowaras was worst across the country.
Another member of the Committee, Ali Muhammad Khan showed resentment over not giving importance to the recommendations of the Committee by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. He said the Ministry was not giving importance to the Committee. He complained that when the meeting of the Committee was scheduled, the absence of Federal Minister or Federal Secretary was a common practice. He added it was the only Ministry whose all members had staged walk out against the ministry. He opined that Speaker National Assembly should be written regarding winding up business of the business if the recommendations of the committee were not implemented.
Ali Muhammad Khan deplored that the Ministry allotted quota to private Hajj tour operators despite clear directives of the minister regarding giving no quota to private Hajj tour operators. He said he had already requested to conduct audit of entire Hajj operation from any impartial auditor as Hajj transaction was always in billion so audit was necessary. He proposed that all money of Hajj operation must be kept in National Bank to that national bank could be consolidated.
On this occasion, Secretary Religious Affairs said that Hajj operation was started with delay last year too, adding the directives of the Supreme Court were materialized, in this regard. He said Hajj quota of all private companies have been ended while the quota would be started with a new start. He said services of an audit firm would be hired for assessment of private Hajj companies.
