Ajmer: Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind has urged the Indian authorities to stop use of pellet guns and other fatal weapons against the protestors in occupied Kashmir and set up a probe commission to punish guilty personnel of Indian armed forces.Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind passed more than a dozen resolutions on a wide-range of issues before a gathering of over two hundred thousand people at its concluding 33rd General Session in Ajmer.In the presence of different faith leaders including Hindu, Sikh, Jain and Christian and Islamic scholars, Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind General Secretary Maulana Mahmood Madani said, the Jamiat’s session expresses deep sorrow on the violation of human rights, death, destruction and blinding thousands of people in occupied Kashmir.It is perhaps for the first time that Jamiat has reacted on the uprising in Kashmir and described the use of pellet guns as highly condemnable act and asked the Indian government to abrogate the draconian Armed Forces Special Powers Act (ASPFA).Resolution states, “Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind expresses deep sorrow on the unrest, violation of the human rights, incidents of death as a result of clash between the army and the Kashmiri youth and thousands of people losing their vision in Kashmir. The economical crisis that took place due to continuous curfew over of period of two months is also a matter of anxiety. Unfair acts of the police and army, unethical use of the pallet gun, search actions in the houses and desecration of the mosques and imams are highly condemnable acts.† Based on this situation, this congregation demanded that New Delhi should set up an enquiry commission to punish the culprit police officials and the criminals should be given severe punishment after unbiased enquiry.
