Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, Indian police arrested Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement Chairperson, Farida Behanji along with party leaders Maulvi Bashir Ahmad, Abdur Rashid and dozens of activists in Srinagar, today.
The arrests were made when Farida Behanji along with party leaders and activists was holding a protest demonstration for the release of political detainees, recovery of party activists Javed Ahmad Shala and Muhammad Siddiq Sofi at Aabi Guzur in Srinagar. The protest was also organized to condemn Indian election drama in the territory.
Earlier, before the arrest Farida Behanji and Maulvi Bashir Ahmad while addressing protesters urged the international community to impress upon India to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
Meanwhile, several PDP workers were injured when they were attacked with stones during a so-called election convention in Chewgam area of Kulgam district. So-called puppet minister Abdul Haq and member assembly Nazir Ahmad Laway and Abdul Majeed Padru were also present in the convention.
