Rawalakot: (Parliament Times) The former information minister Sardar Abid Hussain Abid has said that besides imparting quality education it was incumbent upon the educational institutes to inculcate core values and better behaviour among students.
Abid, the former information minister, said this while addressing an annual prize distribution ceremony at a private school here on Thursday, which was attended and addressed by President District Bar Association Sardar Ejaz Khan advocate, PML-N leader Sardar Aftab Arif and others, whereas, the function was presided by senior social activist Sardar Khursheed Shaheen.
Speaking on the occasion he said that it was quite unfortunate that despite high literacy rate the society as a whole was at its decline as children were used as cannon fodder for terrorism. He said that it was a shared responsibility of both teachers as well as the parents to focus on the character building of children, teaching morals and ethics to make them responsible citizens of the society. He observed that the private education system has created a competitive environment in the society but there seems lack of proper guidance. Terming children as the future of nation Abid said that children should be taught the history and culture of Kashmir at school level.
