Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the puppet authorities have imposed curfew and restrictions in Srinagar and other parts of the territory to prevent a sit-in protest outside the UN office in Srinagar, today.
The joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has called for complete shutdown and a peaceful sit-in protest outside the UN office at Sonawar in Srinagar against the surge in killings by Indian forces in the territory. The objective of the protest is to urge the United Nations to ask India to stop the massacre of people in Kashmir and to remind the World Body to fulfill its commitments made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The district administration Srinagar has said that restrictions will remain imposed in parts of Srinagar city today (Friday).
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, told media men that strict restrictions will remain in place in the areas falling under the jurisdictions of Khanyar, Nowhatta, Rainawari, Mharaj Gunj, Safa Kadal, Maisuma, Kral Khud and Ram Munshi Bagh police stations in the city on Friday.
On the other hand, the occupation authorities have put Hurriyat leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, Zafar Akbar Butt and Qazi Yasir under house arrest or in custody to prevent them from leading the sit-in.
