LAHORE : Gujrat has become the third team to join inaugural Super Kabaddi League (SKL) and have signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with tournament organizer Strawberry Sports Management (SSM), reported by the media, on Wednesday.
Super Kabaddi League will be played from May 16 at Punjab Stadium, Lahore.
According to details, the team of Gujrat have been purchased by Chaudhry Nasrullah Warraich who is a businessman.
Chaudhry Nasrullah said in his media briefing that sports in general and cultural games in particular are declining at the moment in Pakistan. He further said that he has bought the team of his hometown not for any business purposes, but entirely for the sake of this sport.
Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) vice president Ramzan Ghumman told the media that foreign players are also contacting the federation to participate in the tournament.
The other two teams that have been sold so far are Sialkot Bulls and Islamabad Tigers. Bulls are owned by Chuadhary Ikhlaq whereas hockey Olympian Mohammad Usman owns Islamabad Tigers.
