Muzaffarabad:Â (Parliament Times) AJK Minister for Education Barrister Iftikhar Ali Gillani has said that provision of equal opportunities to people for progress and development is priority of the government. Addressing a function here on Sunday he said that PML-N government under a comprehensive strategy is working to restore merit, rule of law and establishing good governance in the state and claim that fruits of government’s effort will be soon trickled down to the masses.
He said that those who had destroyed the institution of the state in the past by trampling rule of law and merit are not happy with the steps of the present government. The minister said that government had started reforming the education sector by making recruitments and promotions on merit. He said that now jobs will be offered only to those who will qualify NTS like tests in Azad Kashmir and added that education sector will not be allowed to become a job industry to the people.
He said that quality of education is another area being focused by the present government. He further said that minimum qualification for the primary teacher would be BA, B Ed with Associate degree in education. He maintained that the degrees only issued by the universities accredited by the higher education would be acceptable for the jobs. The minister said that efforts are under way to completely end the political interference in the education department and announced that no appointment will be made in future on political basis.
