LAHORE: The government departments in Lahore are bustling with activity in preparations for the final match of Pakistan Super League that will be played on March 5.
While Lahore Electric Supply Company officials are busy making arrangement for stand-by setups, the health department plans to prepare for medical facilities near the stadium.
“The PSL match is a positive step for the revival of cricket in the country,” LESCO Chief Executive Officer Wajid Ali Kazmi said while talking to the media. “Uninterrupted supply of electricity will be ensured for the day of the final match. We hope there is no power issue on the match day.”
He added electricity will be provided to Gaddafi Stadium through multiple feeders. “A high-power automatic generator will also be installed with each floodlight.”
Besides uninterrupted power supply, a process has also been decided to make sure no suspicious person enters the stadium.
“The spectators will be allowed to enter the stadium after passing through a four-layer security check,” said Lahore CCPO Captain (retd) Amin Wains, while heading a meeting at the police lines in Qila Gujjar Singh.
While addressing the police official, the CCPO said all the roads leading to Gaddafi Stadium will be monitored via CCTV cameras, while the personnel of Dolphin Force and Police Response Unit will patrol the area.
“Foolproof security will be provided to local and international players,” he said. “Snap-checking and combing operations will be carried out inthe city on the match day while all the places of worship will be put on high alert.”
All the hospitals in Lahore will be kept on high alert on the match day, while temporary medical facilities will also be set up in various areas.
According to Punjab Specialised Health Care and Medical Education Najam Ahmed, orders have been issued to General Hospital Lahore to arrange a temporary setup of 25 beds at the hockey stadium starting Friday (tomorrow).
The management of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital will set up a six-bed facility at PC Hotel, while Punjab Institute of Cardiology has been directed to deploy staff along with an ambulance at Gaddafi Stadium.
