MIRPUR (AJK): Acting Prime Minister of Azad Jammu & Kashmir Raja Nisar Ahmed Khan said here on Monday that AJK government has started implementing an integrated phased plan for electrification of rest parts of AJK including the remote and far flung areas of the liberated territory.
He was addressing a public rally including the workers of the State Electricity Department, Dadayal sub division, at Chakswari, about 45 kilometer from Mirpur district headquarter.
Raja Nisar Ahmed said that the government was determined to furnish remote and far flung areas of AJK with the latest means of electricity. He said that six out of eight feeders have started power supply in Dadayal, the biggest sub division of Mirpur district. Rest of two feeders would soon start functioning for the supply of uninterrupted power to the remote areas of the sub division, he added.
The acting Prime Minister announced that one more sub divisional office of the AJK Electricity Department was being established in Dadayal sub division. He said that outdated high power supply lines will be replaced with latest lines to discourage the line losses in AJK particularly in this sub division, which, he underlined, was suffering with heaviest volume of the line losses in AJK.
The acting Prime Minister disclosed that AJK government have started bringing about reforms in the State electricity Department in Azad Jammu Kashmir. Construction and operation divisions of the department have been integrated under an umbrella besides the computerization of the electricity bills across AJK. He said that the reformation of the electricity department particularly with transfer policy of the employees of the department was imperative to ensure the vibrant services to the masses.
He pointed out that Line superintendent will perform his duty constantly for one year at a place, Assistant lineman would perform duties for six months and meter readers for three months at a place. He further told that the Electricity Department employees transfer policy also totally discourage the posting of any of its employees at his or her home station.
Raja Nisar Ahmed said that Secretary Electricity AJK govt would be bound to conduct at least four tours of each district in a month to monitory the power supply system. Similarly Chief Engineers, and Superintending Engineers will respectively conduct 6 and 10 tours each in the areas of their respective jurisdictions. He added that Sub Divisional officers would be bound to conduct the field tours of the areas in their respective sub divisions.
