Muzaffarabad: The Federal Ministry for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage in collaboration with University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK) has launched ‘Right to Rightful’ Program in AJK.
The UAJK announced to setup endowment fund and assured to fully cooperate with the ministry to make the imitative a success. Addressing a seminar jointly organized by Department of Urdu, Islamic Studies and Kashmir Studies of University of AJK, the speakers stressed that dream of a welfare state cannot come true without granting right to the rightful. They urged the youth to play their role for the success of the program.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Dr. Kahawaja Farooq Ahmed termed the program as need of the hour and announced an endowment fund for the welfare of needy and deserving. The Chief Executive of the program Bushra Taskeen in her address said that every year, around 5.54 trillion rupees are spent in “mandatory†alms and voluntary charity in Pakistan as the country has been ranked among top countries actively taking part in charitable acts. She said that poverty can be turned into prosperity if the charity and donations are reached to the rightful and deserving people. The Dean of the Arts of AJK University Dr Ayesha Sohail stressed for the need of creating patriotism to defeat the menace of terrorism. She said UAJK is prepared to do research on the subject. The Program Director of Right for Rightful for AJK Region Khurram Idrees called upon the people to promote culture of giving for the welfare of poor and destitute people. The head of Urdu Department of University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Abdul Karim said Right to Rightful is an important initiative to create awareness, promote peace and eradicate intolerance and sectarianism. The head of the Islamic Studies Department, Dr. highlighted the importance of Sadaqat, zakat and charity in the light of Qur’an and Hadith.
