Islamabad: A Special Court has summoned interior secretary on August 29 in High Treason case due to non presence of Pervez Musharraf before it despite issuance of his warrants.
A two members bench of special court presided over by Justice Yawar Ali took up the case for hearing on Monday.
During the course of hearing, Akhtar Shah, Counsel for former President Pervaiz Musharraf took the plea that his client is facing life threat as life attempts were made on him during the hearing of Akbar Bugti case in Islamabad Kacheri and in Quetta adding if his client is provided president level security then he will appear.
Court while expressing displeasure over prosecutor Akram Sheikh observed, “If Akram Sheikh was to quit the case then why he didn’t give any application in this regard. Senior lawyer should have knowledge in this respect.
Court further observed that interior secretary should appear before court in person on next hearing to tell why his client was not produced despite issuance of his non-bailable arrest warrants.
Court observed, “The legal point related to the statement under Section 342 will be discussed on next hearing to see whether trial could be run or not without recording statement.
The court has adjourned the hearing till August 29.
