Islamabad : The cases of corruption and financial irregularities over Rs 194.8 million have surfaced in various post offices of Pakistan Post during last fiscal year.
It is revealed in the audit report of fiscal year 2016-17 released by Postal department. Some 140 cases of financial irregularities were witnessed in 23 ranges of department which faced total loss of over Rs 194.8 million.
“The fraud and financial irregularities were committed in various departments of Pakistan Post including Postal Life Insurance’s policies, military pension, fake stamps, VP parcel, National Saving Accounts and in the receipts of utility billsâ€, the report added.
After the identification of fraud, corruption and financial irregularities, these were put before the high officials of Pakistan Post. They said that department has recovered approximately Rs 91.6 million so far. Cases have also been lodged against the officials and officers allegedly involved in it. As per document, the record of recovery of over Rs 8.8 million was presented while record of over Rs 32.8 could be provided so far.
