Islamabad : Chief of General Staff Iranian Armed Forces Major General Dr Muhammad Bagheri on Monday called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi.
The powerful army chief emphasized the need to further enhance military to military cooperation between the two countries’ Armed Forces. Iranian chief of general staff strongly condemned the recent terrorists’ incidents in Pakistan and pledged to keep working for better relations between the two brotherly countries.
Qamar Javed Bajwa and Muhammad Bagheri also discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security, defence cooperation and Pakistan-Iran border management.
The COAS said that enhanced Pak-Iran cooperation will have a positive impact on peace and security in the region. The Iran’s top military officer visiting here after Pakistan, Iran, Russia and China recently agreed to join efforts in fighting Islamic State (ISIS) in Afghanistan.
Pakistani army chief had invited Iran’s top military officer during his visit to Tehran last November.
