ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has sought progress report from government till November 30 on religious parties sit-in at Faizabad interchange.
A two members bench of SC comprising Justice Musheer Alam and Justice Qazi Faez Isa took up for hearing suo motu notice case with regard to sit in on Thursday.
Interior ministry and defence ministry filed their replies in the court. Attorney General also appeared in the court.
AG told the court that Mashaikh have been included in the delegation for holding talks with sit in leadership.
Justice Qazi Faez Isa remarked “ do you not know about Islam. Pakistan was created on the basis of arguments. There is no coercion in Deen.
He further remarked “ one person has closed down confluence of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Writ of one person rather than of state is established therein.
The learned judge inquired from AG “is there any other action plan than violence”.
AG took the plea “ we are taking steps but there are some steps which are not being advertised.
Justice Qazi Faez Isa remarked “ ego and .conceit is major sin and this all is being done for satisfying ego. Why the salam of blessing is not coming and only abuses are coming out from all the mouths. We also become worried but we don’t abuse. We don’t want protestors are fired upon;.
He observed when the writ of the state ends, decisions are made on streets. Will the cities be closed down if some other problem is created tomorrow?
He remarked “ a child expired due to dharna. Who is responsible for it. We became upset due to the people who profess Islam but don’t practice Islam. .
AG told the court the protesters sat at Faizabad Interchange on the eve of Hazrat Imaam Hussain Chehlum. We don’t want bloodshed.
Justice Qazi Faez Isa inquired how many cases were registered by you.
AG told 18 cases were registered. 169 people have been arrested.
Justice Qazi remarked “ we live in an Islamic state rather than an ordinary country. It seems as if it is becoming difficult for Muslim to live in an Islamic state. Tell us we should issue what orders. It is responsibility of administration and state. We will not do your job. Then you will complain that interference has been made in your job.
SC again summoned the report from ISI about dharna.
Court remarked first report of ISI is not satisfactory. Nothing significant has been stated therein. They have given four names on the report to us; People are facing trouble but dharna people are facing no trouble.
Justice Qazi observed agencies should tell us about business, bank accounts and tax of protestors. . From where the protestors are being fed. Have these people no business Are they “malang, faqir”. Do our agencies not know who is feeding dharna people.
SC expressed resentment over not taking steps for ending dharna remarking as per report Punjab government was aware of all the situation but no steps were taken.
Justice Qazi Faez Isa remarked “ government and protestors are overlooking basic point that when Muslim meet they extend salam to each other. Pakistan came into being on the basis of argument. whereas convincing others forcefully does not set a good precedent.. There is no coercion in Deen. Job has become easy for the enemies; Enemies are torching our home. People are facing trouble since last several days but the government is not ready to talk over the closed routes.. When state ends then there will be blood shed on roads.
The court summoned the intelligence agencies officials on next hearing.
The court sought progress report from government on removing protestors from Faizabad interchange till November 30 and adjourned the hearing of the case.
