Karachi: Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) has allowed Dr Asim Hussain Pakistan people’s Party (PPP) stalwart and close aide of Former President Asif Ali Zardari Dr to travel abroad for medical check-up.
ATC took up the case on provision of alleged medical aid to terrorists by Dr Asim for hearing on Monday.
Dr Asim through a petition had sought permission from court to travel abroad for his medical treatment from August 8 to August 28.
It is vital to mention here that Dr Asim was arrested in August 2015 and was kept under police custody for 90 days due to his alleged involvement in criminal offence.
He was handed over to police in November 2015 and a case had also been registered against him on complaint of Rangers.
Rangers had lodged a complaint against Asim that he was allegedly involved in provision of medical facilities to terrorists of MQM and banned outfits in the two branches of Zia u Deen hospital, Karachi.
According to FIR, MQM leaders including Waseem Akhtar, former assembly member Rauf Siddiqui, Saleem Shahzad, PSP Party President Anees Qaim Khani, PPP Abdul Qadir Patel directed him to do so. Asim was freed from jail after getting bail in April last year. Later he got bail in all other cases too.
