Islamabad: On the occasion of first martyrdom anniversary of famous youth resistance leader, Burhan Muzaffar Wani, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Pak chapter here on Saturday organized “Burhan-Shaheed rally†in the capital city Islamabad to pay homage to the charismatic guerilla commander, who was deemed as the new face of resistance against Indian occupation.Participants of the rally while holding banners and placards inscribed with pro-freedom and anti-India slogans gathered at constitution avenue near Saudi-Tower and marched towards D-chowk, which among others was participated by Kashmiri leaders hailing from both sides of the line of control including , human rights activists, civil society and political activists. Raising high-pitched slogans against what they called as Indian illegal occupation of Kashmiris’ motherland the demonstrators demanded the international community to shun its policy of indifference towards the sufferings of Kashmiri people.
The marchers, mostly Kashmiris, were holding portraits of slain militant commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani. One of the banners read; “Burhan Teray Khoon Say Inqilab Aaya Hay†[Burhan your blood has triggered revolution in Kashmirâ€.
Addressing the participants of the rally, Hurriyet leaders said that martyr Burhan Wani infused new spirit in the ongoing struggle for right to self-determination. Terming Wani as a hero and the role model for Kashmiri youth they said that his martyrdom has triggered a revolution that will continue to inspire the coming generations. “His [Burhan’s] Contribution and role would be written in golden letters in the history of Kashmir. Burhan was a Hero of millions of Kashmiris and an icon of resistance movementâ€, they said adding that for his indomitable role in the freedom struggle Shaheed Burhan Muzaffar Wani would be remembered for a long time in the annals of Kashmiris history
Urging the international community to discharge its legal and moral obligations vis-Ã -vis the peaceful settlement of Kashmir dispute, speakers on the occasion said that world community must shun its policy of indifference and play a active role to settle the long-pending dispute that happens to be the bone of contention between the two nuclear neighbours India and Pakistan. They said that Kashmiris have been fighting for their legitimate right, which was guaranteed to them by no less an authority than the United Nations.
