Islamabad:(Parliament Times) Amer Mehboob the chief editor of Daily Jammu and Kashmir emerged as the sole contender for AKNS presidency as no other contestant submitted nomination papers with the returning officer in the AKNS electoral office here on Saturday.
According to a notification issued by the AKNS Election Commissioner, Amer Mehboob has been elected president of the All Kashmir News Papers Society (AKNS) unopposed as no other candidate filed nomination papers against him on the last date of submission of nomination papers.Pertinently, the process of filing nomination papers for AKNS apex body elections has been completed here on Saturday. The nomination papers of the contesting candidates were received here on 20 May 20, 2017 from 10 AM to 2 PM. The AKNS Election Commission comprised of three members including Raja Kafeel Ahmed, Sardar Zulifaqar and Zafeer Baba received the nomination papers of contesting candidates hailing from Islamabad, Muzaffarabad and Mirpur respectively.Amer Mehboob the chief editor of Daily Jammu and Kashmir emerged as the sole contestant for presidency as none other than him submitted nomination papers with the returning officer in the electoral office. Mehboob was therefore elected as president of the All Kashmir News Papers Society (AKNS) unopposed. For the post of senior vice president the nomination papers were filed by Chief Editor Daily Telegram Shairbaz Munir Chudhary, whereas Chief Editor Daily Dharti Sardar Abid Siddique and Chief Editor weekly Agaz Azra Salib submitted their nomination papers for the post of vice presidents I & II respectively. For the post of secretary general Chief Editor Subuh-e-Nou Sarfaraz Khawaja, for Deputy Secretary General Chief Editor Daily Parliament Times Mr. Javed Iqbal Chudhary, for Secretary Finance Chief Editor Weekly Rawabit International Sardar Imtiaz and for the post of Secretary Information Chief Editor Daily Rahbar Sajjad Hussain Shah had submitted their nomination papers with the returning officers of the election commission. All the candidates have been elected unopposed since there was no rival candidate in the fray.
For AKNS governing body three candidates including Syed Dilaver Hussain Bukhari, Chief Editor Daily Kashmir Nama Raja Suhrab Khan and chief Editor Weekly Tasneef Malik Amir Naveed filed there nomination papers and were elected unopposed as members of the governing body.
It many be recalled here that polling for the AKNS apex body was scheduled to be held on 24 May 20, 2017. All the candidates have been elected unopposed as no other candidate filed nomination papers against then on the last date of submission of nomination papers.
