ISLAMABAD: All Kashmir Newspapers Society (AKNS) has
demanded that government should ensure fair and judicious
distribution of advertisements to media and Prime Minister of Azad
Jammu Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider fulfil his commitment regarding
the allocation of one percent of the development budget for the
promotion of media. It also demanded that the Press Information
Department Islamabad must release advertisement for AJK
newspapers according to regional quota and stop injustice against
AJK newspapers. These demands were raised in meeting of executive
body of AKNS on Sunday. The meeting of newly elected body of
AKNS was held in the chair of its president Amir Mehboob. The
decisions were taken to make AKNS a proactive institution and many
committees were formed for this purpose. It was decided that general
council meeting will be held on 6 August at Muzaffarabad and
important decision will be taken. It was also decided that all members
of AKNS will be provided the facility of group health insurance. The
meeting raised concerns on the advertisement policy of federal and
AJK governments. The meeting also paid glowing tribute to martyred
commander Burhan Wani. The meeting was attended by its newly
elected office bearers including Javed Iqbal Ch, Sherbaz Munir,
Sardar Hamid and others.
