Lahore: Azad Jammu and Kashmir president Sardar Masood Khan has strongly condemned the wave of terrorist attacks in Pakistan in the past few days targeting civilians and security officials. “These attacks, orchestrated with military precision, are all manifestations of a proxy war against Pakistan. There is no doubt in our mind about the sponsor, engineer and executor of these attacksâ€, Masood Khan said.
The President of Azad Kashmir made these remarks today while addressing the Lahore High Court Bar Association. India has, the President said, launched a two-pronged war against the people of IOK (Indian Occupied Kashmir) and state of Pakistan. The purpose is to destabilize Pakistan and build pressure on Pakistan to dilute its stance on Kashmir.
The AJK President said that the eternal bond of solidarity between Pakistan and the people of Kashmir will never be ruptured by such machinations. “Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir are incomplete without each otherâ€, he said. Pakistani state, the AJK President said is turning a corner by ensuring stability and investing in economic development.
Sardar Masood Khan said that the stand of the people of Kashmir and Pakistan on the right of self determination was just and supported by the UN Charter, as well as UN Security Council resolutions mandating a plebiscite to ascertain the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
President Masood paid tributes to the men and women of the IOK who were giving sacrifices for liberty and freedom of their land. “Our Kashmiri brothers and sisters were writing the history of freedom with their blood; and Indian occupation forces were also writing a new history of barbarismâ€, he said.
The President of Azad Kashmir called on the international community to address human rights and humanitarian rights crisis in IOK. “Silence is acquiescence in the face of gross and massive violations of human rights by Indian occupation forcesâ€, he said. He called on UNSC to hold a debate on Kashmir on the basis of UNMOGIP reports; and appealed to the Human Rights Council to send a fact finding mission to the IOK.
The AJK President briefed the High Court Bar Association about the steps being taken by the Azad Government, in collaboration with Pakistan government, for economic development of the territory especially focusing on infrastructure development, self-sufficiency in electricity, qualitative education, and universal access to health, promotion of tourism, industrialization and growth of extractive industry. He told Lahore’s lawyers that Azad Kashmir has become part of CPEC after the approval of motorway, an industrial zone and two hydro-power projects.
