Rawalakot:(Parliament Times) President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan has said credit for keeping Kashmir issue alive goes to leaders like Ghazi-e- Millat Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan who played a pivotal role in the liberation struggle of Kashmir in 1947. “Kashmir issue would have been diluted long ago had a part of Kashmir now known as Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) was not liberated under the dynamic leadership of Ghazi-e- Millat Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim in 1947,” Sardar Masood Khan said while addressing a daylong conference on life and achievements of Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan here on Thursday.
The event organized by University of Poonch was also addressed by former Vice Chancellor of Azad Jammu and Kashmir University, Professor Dr. Khawaja Farooq Ahmed, Professor Dr. Zafar Hussain Zafar, Professor Masood Khan and others. The speakers highlighted various aspects of the life of Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan and achievements in their papers read out in the conference.
Terming Ghazi-e- Millat Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan as an accomplished politician, a military leader and attorney, President Sardar Masood Khan said that decision taken by Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan and his associates to join Pakistan in July 19, 1947 even before the birth of Pakistan reflects his acumen and foresightedness.
He also paid glowing tributes to the people of Poonch for their matchless sacrifices in liberation struggle of Kashmir that resulted in liberation of 32,000 kilometers territory from despotic Dogra rule under the leadership of Ghazi-e- Millat Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan.
Calling Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan as most honest politician and man of principles, President Masood Khan said that Ghazi-e- Millat ruled for long in Azad Jammu Kashmir with not a single allegation of dishonesty.
He urged the students and audience to play their role in ongoing freedom of Kashmir by raising the voice of the oppressed people of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir through social media and others means of communication along with their studies to carry forward the mission of their forefathers.
Referring to the liberation struggle of the Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, he said valiant people of Kashmir braving bullets and pellets with great courage and determination sending message to the oppressors that they can never suppress their aspiration or force them to submission.
He deplored that 700,000 Indian forces had created mayhem in occupied Kashmir and turned the occupied territory into a slaughter house. Commending the unwavering resolve of the leadership of Joint Resistance Movement including Syed Ali Gillani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Yasin Malik, Aasia Andarabi and others, Khan exdpressed his hope that their commitment and determination will take the freedom to its logical conclusion.
