ISLAMABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan has said that all the financial, administrative powers and assets of Kashmir Council are being transferred to AJK government after the 13th Amendment.
“The process to transfer powers from Kashmir Council to AJK government is continued. The fruits of decentralization, devolution of power and empowerment of people at grassroots level will soon be availed to the people of Azad Kashmir,” Haider told various delegations called on him at Kashmir House on Friday.
Disclosing that his government would order audit to all the development projects completed by the Kashmir Council, Prime Minister said that development work was not mandate of the council and it was doing development work illegally in the past.
He said that government would conduct an audit of all the development projects of Kashmir Council to ascertain that the development funds were used judiciously and transparently. Saying that all the employees of Kashmir Council are now employees of the AJK government, Prime Minister assured them that their service would be fully protected like the other employees of the states.
The Prime Minister said that PML-N government is first government that did not face any financial crunch because of the financial discipline adopted by the government. He directed members of his cabinet and the members of PML-n Parliamentary Party to monitor and oversee the quality of development work in the development projects in their respective constituencies.
Raja Farooq Haider khan further said that there were lot of complaints of the people about the substandard development work done by the Kashmir Council and AJK government has now decided to order an independent and transparent audit of the projects. He said someone is found responsible of the wastage of national resources or corruption would be dealt according to law.
