Islamabad: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) won five national awards on promotion of ‘Seerat-un-Nabi’ through its research-based academic work.
It was for first time that that AIOU was declared the best one among the higher educational institutions on writing research journal and articles by the Federal Ministry of Religious affairs with five awards.
The awards were handed over at the Seerat conference held in Islamabad last week on the occasion of Eid-Milad-Un-Nabi. President Mamnoon Hussain was the chief guest on the occasion.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui who was also present on the occasion said that it was the great pride for the University to have a leading position in projecting the teachings of Islam, in context of Seerat-un-Nabi.
The University had the special distinction that it published special research journal on ‘Seerat studies’. The award was received by its editor Prof. Dr. Moin-ud-din Hashmi. Other four awards were given on writing best articles on the topic ‘Leading principles of national leadership in an Islamic State in light of teachings of the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him).
The writers of these articles included Dr. Ahmed Raza, Dr. Ayesa Snobar and Miss. Nazia Gohar of Department of Islamic Thoughts.
