Islamabad,(Parliament Times):Pakistan’s top military leadership on Tuesday stressed the need for restraint and de-escalation amid rising regional tensions, highlighting that lasting peace depends on collective responsibility and respect for sovereignty.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, the 275th Corps Commanders’ Conference was chaired by Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Asim Munir at the General Headquarters. The forum reviewed the evolving regional security landscape, noting that current geopolitical developments carry significant implications for stability.
The military leadership reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to playing a responsible role in maintaining regional peace while advocating measures to prevent further escalation. It emphasised that stability is closely linked to restraint, accountability, and mutual respect among states.
The conference also conducted a detailed assessment of internal and external security challenges, resolving to sustain ongoing operations aimed at eliminating terrorist networks and dismantling their support systems. The forum acknowledged continued progress under Operation Ghazab Lil Haq in weakening militant infrastructure.
Participants criticised the policies of the Afghan Taliban, accusing them of providing safe havens to militant groups, including Khawarij, and described such actions as counterproductive. The forum also rejected allegations from the Afghan side that Pakistan targets civilians, terming them part of a disinformation campaign to divert attention from internal issues.
Marking the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, the commanders described it as a symbol of national unity and determination to defend the country’s sovereignty. The occasion, they noted, sends a strong message of resilience and preparedness.
The conference paid tribute to the sacrifices of security personnel and civilians, reaffirming that their legacy remains central to Pakistan’s strength and unity. The army chief expressed satisfaction over the armed forces’ operational readiness and praised ongoing intelligence-based counterterrorism efforts.
The forum also condemned human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, including alleged extrajudicial killings and demographic changes, reiterating Pakistan’s continued diplomatic and moral support for the Kashmiri people.
In his concluding remarks, Asim Munir directed commanders to remain vigilant and adaptable, stressing the importance of professional excellence and coordinated responses to emerging conventional and non-conventional threats.
