Quetta(Parliament Times): Senior Provincial Minister of Balochistan, member of the PPP Central Committee, Parliamentary Leader, and Provincial Minister for Irrigation, Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani, in his message on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, paid tribute to all media representatives, especially working journalists.
The Provincial Minister said that freedom of the press and freedom of expression are considered essential for the development of any country and society. Keeping in view the importance and usefulness of media, it has been declared the fourth pillar of the state. Therefore, all stakeholders associated with the media sector, particularly journalists, should recognize the significance of their profession and perform their duties responsibly so that positive and constructive reporting can bring improvement in society.
He said that the purpose of observing World Press Freedom Day on May 3 every year is to acknowledge the services of journalism across the world. This day highlights the importance of media freedom and encourages raising voices for the protection of journalists.
Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani added that journalists in Balochistan have worked under difficult circumstances and have even sacrificed their precious lives. He said that the current provincial government is making serious efforts for the welfare of journalists and, as a political worker, he will always continue to support the promotion of free and responsible journalism.
