Dr. Lisa Daniel, a renowned academic and business leader in the health sector in Metropolitan Detroit, is one of these exemplars.
Dr. Lisa is a doctoral prepared healthcare leader with a PhD in Human Services and a specialization in Health Care Administration. She has extensive expertise in overseeing complex revenue cycle projects for healthcare clients. She has vast experience with the EPIC electronic health record (EHR) system and leads initiatives that integrate technology with revenue cycle operations to boost efficiency.
“I am Lisa Daniel, and I have over 30 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, administrative leadership, and business operations. I founded and managed a healthcare consulting firm for over five years, renowned for providing practical, results-driven business operations support to healthcare organizations of all sizes (large systems to smaller providers). In my current role as RCM Director at Trinity Health, I am responsible for overseeing and optimizing healthcare organizations’ financial operations and revenue management processes,” Dr. Lisa shared in introduction. Trinity Health is one of the largest not-for-profit health care systems.
Dr. Lisa has also established herself as an academic leader in the healthcare industry. She has equipped numerous healthcare professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their careers.
“I am a professor of Health Science & Allied Health at multiple higher education institutions, including Henry Ford College. In this role, I instruct prospective healthcare students in Healthcare Administration, Finance, Health Information Management, Operational Management, and Reimbursement Methodologies using all three forms of instruction (in-person, hybrid, and remote). I have extensive experience in curriculum development, course design, academic assessment, and test development aligned with accreditation and workforce standards,” she explained.

Dr. Lisa’s strong academic background has played a significant role in her outstanding career success. “I earned a master’s degree in Health Care Administration from Central Michigan University and a PhD in Human Services with a specialization in Health Care Administration from Capella University. I also hold several certifications, includingCertified Billing & Coding Specialist (CSBS) and Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR),” she said.

“As I speak to many different individuals, my message is clear and honest. I say to those that do not see many that look like them or at the head of the organizations in which they work or learn from. To continue to maintain confidence and know that your presence matters, even before you are given the rightful title or recognition of your efforts. There will be moments in time when you feel underestimated, overlooked, misunderstood, or expected to prove yourself repeatedly. Understand that this is not a reflection of your capability; it is often a reflection of systems that were not designed with you in mind.
I encourage them to pursue excellence unapologetically regardless of what they look like. Invest in your education, credentials and skills, and not to seek validation, but to build confidence and autonomy in spaces where your voice may be questioned.
