MIRPUR ( AJK),(Parliament Times): Mirpur Division Commissioner Raja Tahir Mumtaz Khan and Deputy Inspector General of Police Range Mirpur Dr Khalid Mahmood Chohan Thursday issued standing instructions to all concerned state run institutions for dealing with the ongoing electricity outage crisis, laxity in providing city cleanliness, beautification, street lights, national tree plantation and other civic amenities and non-response of public complaints by the institutions in all three districts of Mirpur division.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Sajid Hussain, SSP Khurram Iqbal, Director Planning of the Development Authority Kaleem Ahmed Jaral, Superintending Engineer Sardar Mubashir Sarfaraz Khan, DFO Masood-ur-Rehman, DFO Saeed Imran, Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Raja Shiraz Ahmed Khan, Deputy Director Agriculture Mian Naveedullah, Tanveer Hussain of the Highways Department, District Information Officer Muhammad Javed Malik, Tax Officer Raja Imran Khan, official sources told this Correspondent here on Thursday.
Addressing the meeting, Siv.Commissioner Raja Tahir Mumtaz Khan and Deputy Inspector General Dr. Khalid Mahmood Chohan said that due to the recent international crises, many crises have arisen and the economies of many countries including Pakistan have fallen into severe crisis. “Due to the shortage of furnace oil, the worst electricity crisis has arisen in Pakistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir”, they said. They underlined that the role of Pakistan’s mediation in controlling the international situation is important in the whole world. In these circumstances, until the international situation is controlled, the nation should show patience and tolerance with the beloved country and the country and nation can emerge from all kinds of crises, including electricity, when the international peace and order situation improves.
The two top Divisional officers said that Azad Jammu Kashmir government has provided electricity on inexpensive-rates and other cheap packages to the people, and efforts are also being made for uninterrupted supply of electricity. Mirpur is an important industrial and overseas city of Azad Jammu Kashmir. In order to make this city beautiful, clean and dignified, 100 percent results of national tree plantation should be achieved. National tree plantation should be made successful with the mutual cooperation of all the relevant institutions and every member of the society should be encouraged towards national tree plantation. From Y-cross to Mangla, the Development Authority will plant beautiful trees between street lights and roads, while similar efforts should be made at other places across the district.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the Municipal Corporation to take urgent steps regarding the cleanliness and sanitation of the city and adopt an effective strategy regarding health and sanitation. Issues for the betterment of the citizens and for the improvement of public problems, issues were discussed and important decisions were taken with directives for their immediate implementation. the sources said.
