Muzaffarabad,(Parliament Times):The newly appointed Director General Public Relations, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Tariq Jameel Durani, has said that the department’s top priority is to establish an effective and dynamic information system ensuring the timely and authentic dissemination of information, effective projection of government initiatives, and highlighting a positive image of the state.
He emphasized the need to utilize modern tools, digital platforms, and creative content to make communication more impactful.
He said that digital media, social media platforms, online journalism, video content, and real-time information sharing have completely transformed the communication landscape.
He expressed these views while addressing departmental officers and staff after assuming charge. Deputy DG Ms. Qurat-ul-Ain Shabbir, Information Officers Raja Muhammad Sohail Khan, Syed Asif Hussain Naqvi, Muhammad Hanif Khawaja, Raja Abdul Basit, Sardar Shamim Anjum Aziz, Syed Asif Ali Naqvi, Sajad Nazir, and Fahim Kayani were also present on the occasion.
The DG Information said that in the digital era, media and technology have given the world new speed, new thinking, and new trends. He added that training programs will be launched in the Information Department to enhance skill development so that officers can align with modern requirements of digital communication and media management.
He further said that every possible step will be taken for the development of media in Azad Kashmir. Media is no longer limited to news reporting only; rather, it has become a powerful tool for opinion building, narrative shaping, and influencing perceptions at the global level.
He stressed that modern tools will be used to effectively highlight the development of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, public welfare projects, and government initiatives to project a positive image of the region.
The DG Information reaffirmed that highlighting the Kashmir freedom movement and the development of the region remains the foremost responsibility of the department. He reiterated the commitment to modernize the Information Department so that the state narrative can be effectively conveyed to the world.
