Muzaffarabad ,(Parliament Times):An important consultative meeting was held in the capital city of Muzaffarabad to ensure the effective launch and operationalization of the Solid Waste Management Project. The meeting was jointly chaired by Secretary Local Government and Rural Development, Irshad Ahmed Qureshi, and Mayor Municipality, Syed Sikandar Nisar Gilani. The meeting was attended by 47 elected male and female councilors, along with officials from the Local Government Department, Municipal Corporation, and Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad, Munir Qureshi, who
presented valuable suggestions regarding the cleanliness and beautification of the ???.
The session commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Addressing the participants, Secretary Local Government Irshad Ahmed Qureshi stated that Muzaffarabad is a shared city for all, and its
cleanliness and beautification are not solely the responsibility of the government but a collective duty of every segment of society. He emphasized that political, social, religious, commercial, literary
circles, as well as the media, must play an active role in fulfilling this national responsibility. He termed the Solid Waste Management Project a positive development but stressed that its success largely depends on public cooperation.
Mayor Syed Sikandar Nisar Gilani, in his remarks, stated that the government should view onstituency-III not merely as an electoral constituency but as the capital of Azad Kashmir, and therefore allocate special funds to transform the city into a model urban center.
During the meeting, all councilors reaffirmed their commitment to fully cooperate with the government and municipal authorities for the success of this important project. It was also announced that at the initial stage, special garbage collection bags will be distributed free of cost to residents across all 36 wards of Muzaffarabad. Subsequently, citizens will be required to purchase these bags
themselves to ensure the sustainability of the cleanliness system. Participants paid tribute to the current Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, and Minister for Local Government, Chaudhry Aamir Yasin, acknowledging their leadership in revitalizing the local government system and addressing public issues through practical measures. They described the launch of the Solid Waste Management Project as a clear reflection of the government’s people-friendly policies, which is expected to prove a significant milestone in making the capital clean and aesthetically pleasing. The meeting concluded with special prayers for the State of Azad Kashmir, the martyrs of Kashmir, and the Pakistan Army, along with prayers for the success of the Solid Waste Management Project.
