The speakers highlighted that due to climate change, Pakistan, particularly Kashmir, is facing severe environmental challenges. Unusual rise in temperature, irregular rainfall, floods, droughts, and rapid melting of glaciers clearly indicate that immediate and effective measures are essential. They added that in the past, summers in Rawalakot could be spent without fans, but conditions are rapidly changing and in the near future, living without modern cooling systems may become difficult. Therefore, people must adopt changes in their lifestyles.
They further stated that trees play a vital role in reducing environmental pollution, lowering carbon dioxide levels, improving soil fertility, and protecting wildlife. The speakers also emphasized the need for the implementation of effective green policies at the global level.
During the ceremony, various types of environmentally friendly and fruit-bearing plants were planted within the premises of Ghazi Millat Press Club. Participants actively took part in the plantation drive and reaffirmed their commitment to making the campaign successful. On this occasion, Al-Mustafa Welfare Society appreciated the services of its volunteers.
In the end, the society appealed to the general public to actively participate in plantation activities and play their role in protecting the environment so that a clean, green, and healthy future can be ensured for the coming generations.
