Karachi,(Parliament Times):
Former government adviser and member of the Executive Committee of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Shiraz Khan, has strongly condemned the incident in Madhubani district of India’s Bihar state, where a Muslim woman, Roshan Khatoon, was allegedly tied to a pole and brutally tortured by hooligans associated with the BJP.
In his condemnation statement, Sardar Shiraz Khan said that the increasing atrocities against Muslims in India are extremely alarming, and that BJP-backed hooligans have made life difficult for minorities there. He said that Roshan Khatoon was subjected to severe torture while she was fasting, as a result of which she lost her life, which is a slap in the face of those who claim to be champions of human rights.
He further said that such incidents are a matter of serious concern for the international community and human rights organizations. Global institutions should take immediate notice of the atrocities being committed against minorities, particularly Muslims, in India and play an effective role in ensuring action against those responsible.
Sardar Shiraz Khan said that the protection of religious freedom and human rights is a fundamental responsibility of every civilized society, but the current situation in India appears to be quite the opposite.
He also strongly urged international human rights organizations to conduct a transparent investigation into the incident and ensure strict punishment for those responsible so that such tragic incidents can be prevented in the future.
