MIRPUR (AJK),(Parliament Times):In response to the orders of the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu Kashmir, local authorities Sunday launched an extensive anti-encroachment drive to make the lake-side city of Mirpur AJK clean of All sorts of illegal constructions and installations, it was officially said.
The drive was launched by the city Municipal Corporation and Mirpur Development Authority MDA with the coordination of the district administration with full vigor from the central shaheed chowk,our Special Jammu Kashmir state Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao reports.
“In order to make the lake city of Mirpur totally clean of all sorts of unlawful encroachments, the campaign was launched on the special directives of Mirpur Division Commissioner Raja Tahir Imtiaz Khan, Deputy Commissioner Raja Sadaqat DG MDA Engr Mahmood Mumtaz Rathore Director Estate Management Ch Amjad Ali Mayor of Mirpur Chaudhry Usman Ali Khalid, in response to the special instructions of the apex court of the State.
MdA and Mirpur Municipal Corporation’s anti-encroachment squad conducted the operation clean up to remove encroachments from the city’s roads and streets including at the footpaths.
Unveiling the details, Estate Officer Mirpur told Media here on Monday that the Municipality’s surprise raiding teams removed illegal encroachments from Allama Iqbal Road – right from Sheir Alam Plaza Kalyal to Ghazi Elahi Bakhsh Girls Degree College.
Illicit stalls, goods displayed on footpaths and roads were seized by the. Municipal Corporation’s anti encroachment team – that conducted the operation to clear the road and footpath from all kinds of encroachments, he said.
The MCM Estate Officer has advised the shopkeepers not to encroach on any kind of encroachment or place them on the footpath outside the shops. ” Strict action will continue to be taken against such unlawful practice and the Illegally-displayed goods for sale through unlawful encroachments will be confiscated on the spot and cases will be instituted against the violator shopkeers and vendors, he added.
