Islamabad,(Parliament Times): A large number of Pakistani pilgrims who traveled to Iran and Iraq to visit sacred religious sites have reportedly become stranded in Iraq due to the recent escalation of regional tensions and the deteriorating security situation. According to reports, many Pakistani pilgrims are currently present in different cities of Iraq and are facing serious difficulties in arranging their return journey. Sources indicate that due to the tense security environment, several routes have been closed, while both air and land transportation have been severely disrupted.
The uncertain conditions have created deep concern among the stranded pilgrims as well as their families back in Pakistan. The Pakistani pilgrims in Iraq have appealed to the Government of Pakistan and the relevant authorities to take immediate and effective measures to ensure their safe and early return. They stated that they have been facing uncertainty for several days and are dealing with multiple challenges, including accommodation, food, and travel expenses. The pilgrims have urged the Pakistani Embassy in Baghdad and other concerned authorities to take urgent steps and make emergency arrangements for their repatriation.
They have requested that special measures be taken to facilitate their safe return to Pakistan. Meanwhile, families of the stranded pilgrims in Pakistan have also appealed to the government to take prompt diplomatic and administrative actions to ensure the safety and safe return of Pakistani citizens currently stuck in Iraq. They suggested that the government should arrange special flights or identify safe land routes to bring the pilgrims back to Pakistan as soon as possible. Social and religious circles have also expressed concern over the situation and called upon the Government of Pakistan to devise an immediate strategy to assist the stranded pilgrims so that they can safely return home amid the prevailing uncertainty.
