Kashmiri delegation, currently on visit to attend 61st session of United Nations Human Rights Council in Swiss city of Geneva. held seperate meetings with UN Special Rapporteurs, UN officials, and members of the diplomatic community, apprising them of the current situation in Indian-illigally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, it was officially said.
Veteran Kashmir freedom struggle iconic leader Altaf Hussain Wani-led delegation is comprising APHC Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Mrs. Shamim Shawl, Sardar Amjad Yousaf Khan, and APHC General Secretary Advocate Parvez Ahmed Shah.
“The delegation met with the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders, the UN Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, the Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief, the Special Rapporteur in the field of cultural rights, and the Special Rapporteur on the right to adequate housing”, says a message reaching and released to the media here on Friday.
They briefed each official individually with regard to their respective mandates, thanked them for the communications sent to the Government of India, and urged them to continue pressing India to repeal all draconian laws that provide impunity and facilitate human rights violations, the message said.
During their interactions with diplomats, the delegation urged them to take steps to call upon the Government of India to end its repression and create conducive conditions for a UN-supervised plebiscite in the occupied territory.
