Grossi rejects claims of active Iranian Nuclear weapons project

Vienna Austria,(Parliament Times): The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, has stated that the agency has found no evidence of a structured nuclear weapons program in Iran.

Speaking at a press conference at the United Nations Office at Vienna, Grossi said in response to a journalist’s question, “We do not see any organized program aimed at manufacturing nuclear weapons.”
Grossi further noted that following recent military strikes, the IAEA has not detected any confirmed damage to Iranian nuclear facilities.
His remarks come amid claims by U.S. President Donald Trump, who argued that recent attacks on the Islamic Republic were justified on the grounds that Iran was rebuilding its nuclear program to develop nuclear weapons. Last year, the United States and Israel carried out airstrikes on key Iranian nuclear sites.
However, Grossi did not rule out the possibility that the recent military actions may have been based on political considerations or intelligence unavailable to the IAEA. Given the scale of Iran’s nuclear program, he stressed the importance of resuming IAEA inspections as soon as possible.
The Argentine diplomat also told reporters that there is currently no evidence of damage to facilities such as the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant or the Tehran Research Reactor. He added that radiation levels in neighboring countries remain normal.
Nevertheless, Grossi warned that communication Iranian regulatory authorities has been disrupted must be restored “as soon as possible.”
The agency also issued a strong warning regarding nuclear safety risks across the region. Grossi cautioned that attacks on nuclear facilities could result in the release of radioactive material with serious consequences. He urged all parties involved in the conflict to exercise maximum restraint to prevent further escalation.
