Islamabad,(Parliament Times): In a major leap toward a “Digital Pakistan,” the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) has accelerated the establishment of Smart Tech Labs across the country.
NAVTTC Chairperson Gulmina Bilal Ahmed shared these insights on Wednesday at the headquarters of Knight Human Management (KHM) Shalaan & GL, a premier body for the rights protection of overseas workers. The occasion marked the distribution of overseas employment letters and travel documents to the third batch of 100 workers departing for overseas jobs.
Accompanied by KHM CEO Khalid Nawaz Sadhraich and senior officials from both NAVTTC and KHM, the Chairperson emphasized that Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is currently being advanced on an emergency basis. She revealed an ambitious national goal to boost foreign remittances from overseas workers to $100 billion within the next 5 to 10 years. “The government promotes workplace-based training to bridge the gap between education and industry requirements”, she added saying that this initiative, a cornerstone of the Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Program, is designed to transform the landscape of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) through advanced distance learning solutions.
Gulmina Bilal Ahmed emphasized that the Smart Tech labs across the country are not merely computer rooms but “hubs of innovation” that will bring high-quality technical education to the doorsteps of youth in rural and remote regions. Each lab is equipped with state-of-the-art smart technology, including high-speed internet, smart screens, and modern computing devices.
The project focuses on delivering market-oriented courses—such as AI, Cloud Computing, and Digital Marketing—through a sophisticated Learning Management System (LMS). This allows students in far-flung areas to access the same quality of instruction as those in major urban centers, effectively bridging the academic and digital divide.
Khalid Nawaz Sadhraich while addressing on the occasion noted that by aligning training with global industry standards, Pakistan’s skilled workforce will be better prepared to compete in the international job market, thereby boosting foreign remittances and stabilizing the national economy. The initiative also includes teacher training programs to ensure that educators are proficient in managing digital classrooms and distance learning environments. ‘Our target is to eliminate our dependence on foreign loans and transform Pakistan into one of the world’s strongest economic powers through a highly skilled and high-earning global workforce, he added. KHM is fully committed to this vision, ensuring that every worker is equipped with the modern skills required to command premium wages in the global market.” Khalid Nawaz concluded.
