Rawalpindi ,(Parliament Times):
Cantonment Board (RCB) carried out a significant and effective operation against illegal constructions in the streets of Vestridge, demolishing decades-old encroachments in front of residential houses. The operation was executed under the special instructions of Executive Officer Amir Rasheed, while the Deputy CEO supervised the operation on-site.
According to details, a thorough survey of the affected areas was conducted prior to the operation, revealing that some residents had built permanent structures—such as additional rooms, walls, verandas, and other constructions—on government pathways, causing narrow streets and creating serious obstacles for traffic.
Following the survey, residents were issued formal notices and instructed to voluntarily remove their illegal constructions. However, despite the given deadline, no cooperation was received from the local residents.
Due to non-compliance, RCB’s enforcement team, with the support of the Enforcement Branch, launched a large-scale operation using heavy machinery. Police personnel were also present to maintain law and order during the operation.
According to Cantonment Board officials, this operation will continue without discrimination, ensuring strict enforcement of the law throughout the cantonment. Executive Officer Amir Rasheed made it clear that no illegal construction on government pathways, streets, or public land will be tolerated.
The Cantonment Board has urged citizens to follow rules and regulations and avoid unauthorized construction without approved plans, to ensure that public facilities and civic life are not affected.
