Rawalakot, (Parliament Times) : The Directorate of Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), University of Poonch Rawalakot, organized a one-day seminar titled “Developing Vision, Mission, and Strategic Goals: Tools for Leadership and Governance in Higher Education Institutions.” The seminar was held at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Poonch Rawalakot.
Prof. Dr. Shahid Iqbal Awan, Dean, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, served as the resource person for the session. The event was attended by Deans, Heads of Departments, Chairpersons, and senior faculty members from various departments of the university.
The seminar aimed to strengthen academic leadership and institutional governance by equipping participants with the knowledge and tools to formulate clear and meaningful vision, mission, and strategic goals for their respective departments.
During his presentation, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Awan elaborated on the importance of aligning departmental vision and mission statements with the overall institutional mission and strategic direction of the university. He emphasized that this alignment is essential for improving educational quality, ensuring coherence in academic planning, and enhancing institutional performance.
He stated, “All departments should develop their own vision, mission, and objectives so that they are aligned with the overall mission and vision of the University of Poonch Rawalakot. This will significantly contribute to improving educational standards and fostering a deeper understanding of academic matters.”
The session also covered practical frameworks and case studies from leading universities, focusing on how strategic planning and stakeholder engagement can drive continuous improvement in higher education.
The participants appreciated the insightful session and acknowledged the efforts of the Directorate of QEC for organizing a productive and thought-provoking seminar that will help departments in shaping their academic direction in alignment with the university’s long-term goals.
