No society or nation can progress without the active participation and positive role of women: Iqra Liaqat

Lahore (Parliament Times): Women are an extremely important part of society, and it is because of them that the world is filled with the colours of a rainbow. No nation can progress without the active participation of women. Education is equally important for both men and women — in fact, women need it even more. As it is often said, “Educating a man is educating an individual, while educating a woman is educating a generation.” Through education, women can become aware of their true potential and play a significant role in shaping the destiny of society.
Strong and determined women are the real asset of our society, and today, we are introducing you to one such courageous woman — Iqra Liaqat. Like many women, Iqra has faced challenges in life, but instead of letting them stop her, these challenges became stepping stones to move forward.
Iqra holds a Master’s degree in Mathematics and is currently working as a freelancer, online tutor, book writer, and columnist. She is a true multitasker who has turned her mathematical skills into a means of helping others — and earning a livelihood. She has authored several books on mathematics and statistics, some of which include:
    • Accurate Essays for CSS
    • Accurate General Knowledge for CSS
    • CSS Pure Math
    • CSS Applied Math
    • Helping Book of Math for 9th Class
    • Model Question Papers for 9th Class
    • Solved Question Papers of Statistics
In an exclusive conversation with Daily Parliament Times, Iqra Liaqat said:
“Helping others and learning something new every day gives me happiness. Freelancing has taught me so much in such a short time. I’ve worked with people from all over the world. This field has truly shown me how the world works, how to connect and deal with different people, and many other lessons of life.”
When asked why she chose this field, she replied:
“Honestly, after completing my education, I tried to find a job, but I couldn’t get the kind of job I wanted. So I thought, why not give freelancing a try? And now, I feel that decision turned out to be one of the best of my life.”
Speaking about the challenges of freelancing, Iqra said:
“Freelancing is not easy. There is tough competition and a lot of uncertainty. Sometimes you have to wait for clients, and sometimes, even when you already have several projects, you take on new ones out of fear of losing clients. That means working extra hard to meet deadlines. But I never lost hope. With hard work and God’s grace, I’ve achieved a lot in my life.”
In response to the question about why she became a columnist, Iqra said:
“I love writing and expressing my thoughts. Sharing knowledge and ideas through writing is a powerful way to connect with people. You don’t need a special degree to be a columnist — just knowledge and experience.”
When asked about her life’s purpose, Iqra stated:
“I want to explore the world, learn new things, and help those who are striving to move ahead in life. I want to become an example for others.”
On being asked what it feels like to be a woman in society, Iqra responded:
“Being a woman today means living with values and being empowered to bring positive change in the world. It’s important for women to have their voices heard and to be recognized for their creative expression — whether in business, values, beliefs, or art. From the very beginning, women have added colour to every aspect of society, and even today they continue to play their part actively.
In Pakistan, if you look around, you will see women achieving success in every field. Our society cannot progress unless ordinary women and girls become equal partners in this journey of development. For that, women must play their role. History shows that Pakistani women have always stood shoulder to shoulder with men in every situation. I believe the world will once again see women’s positive contributions through their participation and empowerment — and Pakistan will progress rapidly.”
In her message to women, Iqra Liaqat said:
“My advice to women is: no matter what, you must work and play your part in the country’s development. It’s not necessary to leave your home to contribute — there are many ways to work from home. I am myself a living example of that.”
